Comparative AI Governance: Europe, China & Beyond

International Summer School | University of Warsaw | June 2026

The Comparative AI Governance: Europe, China & Beyond Summer School is an intensive international programme for students and PhD candidates interested in the global regulation of artificial intelligence. Hosted by the University of Warsaw, the programme will take place in June 2026 and focuses on one of the most pressing and still underexplored issues in contemporary legal research: how AI is governed across different political and legal systems, with particular attention to China.

Programme dates

  • Online sessions (required): 5-6 June 2026

  • On-site classes (University of Warsaw, Poland): 7-14 June 2026

Through lectures, seminars and interactive workshops, participants will analyse key legal instruments, policy strategies and institutional models shaping AI governance in China, the European Union and beyond. The programme offers a rare opportunity to explore China’s regulatory approach from a comparative perspective and to engage directly with leading international scholars working on AI law and governance.

All classes are conducted in English by an international faculty from leading universities worldwide. Participants will receive a formal certificate upon completion.

Participants

The programme is open to:

  • international students

  • international PhD candidates

A total of 21 participants will be selected and offered full scholarships covering travel expenses and the costs of their stay in Poland. There is no tuition fee.

Participants must:

  • be enrolled at a non-Polish university,

  • demonstrate strong academic performance and interest in AI governance,

  • have English proficiency.

*A separate recruitment process for 10 participants from Polish universities (3 students, 4 PhD candidates and 3 PhD holders) will begin in mid-March 2026.
