The movie we will watch is Made in Dagenham.
POLISH: Film opowiada o walce o równe prawa płacowe kobiet w fabryce Forda w Dagenham. Chociaż ta walka miała miejsce w 1968 r., w praktyce nadal nie osiągnięto równej płacy za równą pracę dla mężczyzn i kobiet. Co sprawia, że jest to takie trudne? Co powinny zrobić rządy? Jaką rolę mogą pełnić związki zawodowe? Na te i inne pytania odpowie w debacie po filmie panel ekspertów: Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka (ekspertka Fundacji "Women in the center"), Barbara Surdykowska (ekspertka do spraw prawa pracy w Biurze Eksperckim Komisji Krajowej NSZZ "Solidarność"), prof. Aleksandra Szczerba (ekspertka ds. równego traktowania, UW) prof. Piotr Grzebyk (ekspert prawa pracy ds. prawa do strajku, UW).
Debatę poprowadzi dr Valeri Vachev (ekspert ds. praw człowieka na UW i Zastępca Rzecznika Praw Obywatelskich).
Uczestnictwo jest otwarte dla studentów wszystkich lat, w tym studiów podyplomowych, a także pracowników UW. Uczestnictwo jest bezpłatne, ale serdecznie prosimy o rejestrację na adres ciells@wpia.uw.edu.pl do 4 listopada 2022 r.
ENGLISH: The movie deals with a fight for equal pay rights for women in the Ford factory in Dagenham. While this fight took place in 1968, in practice, we have still not achieved equal pay for equal work for men and women. What makes this so difficult? What should governments do? What role can there be for trade unions? These and other questions will be addressed after the movie in debate with a panel of experts: Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka (expert at the "Women in the center" Foundation), Barbara Surdykowska (international rights expert at Solidarność), prof. Aleksandra Szczerba (expert on equal treatment law, UW), prof. Piotr Grzebyk (labour law expert on the right to strike, UW).
The debate will be moderated by prof. Valeri Vachev (expert in human rights law at UW and deputy-ombudsman).
Participation is open for students from all years, including postgraduate level, as well as members of UW staff. Participation is free of costs, but we cordially ask you to register per email to ciells@wpia.uw.edu.pl, before 4 November 2022.
